If you’re trying to lose weight, one of the first things you should examine is your diet. You can exercise too, but unless you give new meaning to word, you’ll have to make some changes to the foods you eat. Fortunately, there are some great weight loss diet foods that are not only good for you, but downright good!
You know all about eating low fat, and blah, blah, blah. That stuff has been repeated ad infinitum. You just don’t need to hear them any more, do you? Here are some foods that are scientifically proven to help you burn off some of the fat and maybe score some new muscle at the same time. Of course that muscle won’t grow itself, you’ll actually have to work at it a bit. The good news is that if you’ve never trained before, you probably won’t have to work at building muscle nearly as hard as you might think.
One of these weight loss diet foods that has been used as such for years is yogurt. People have eaten it for years when they’re trying to lose weight. Now there’s actual proof that it works. A study performed in 2005 at the University of Tennessee discovered that the funny stuff in the little cups has some amazing powers.
The results of the study demonstrated that fat free yogurt has tremendous fat burning powers. Subjects lost on average 22% more fat than the control group, who restricted their calories the same amount, but included a cup of fat-free yogurt with each of their 3 main meals. An even better discovery for those of you involved in resistance training was that the yogurt-eating subjects also gained 61% more muscle than the other group!
That’s one great weight loss food, and here is another one. Skim milk was shown in another study to have similar powers to transform your body. You hear that right, those milk industry ads with the little kid transforming into the studly hunk may not have been just some advertising agency’s fantasy.
It looks like the effects of milk can help you lose weight, and do it pretty well, too. How well can milk help you strip the fat from your bulbous midsection? A 12 week, 2007 study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition revealed that the combination of nutrients in milk supercharged the body’s fat burning and muscle building apparatus.
Skim milk helped the study participants lose twice as much fat as the best control group. In addition, the milk consuming group gained substantially more muscle. Even one of the control groups that consumed an amount of soy protein equivalent to the proteins in the milk lagged far behind in the amount of muscle they packed on to their frames. The skim milk group gained 2-1/2 pounds more muscle than the soy protein group and almost 3-1/2 pounds more than the group that consumed no protein enhanced drink.
These 2 foods are powerful friends in your quest to lose weight. While you’re at it, don’t forget to cut out the refined sugar and white bread. Sometimes it’s more about the foods that can help you lose weight by not eating them.
